The relative moistening of Coconut Oil

Coconut Oil – Depending on where you live, it may not be as moisturizing as it’s cracked up to be.  Many people today are using coconut oil for just about everything; however, in a dry climate such as Santa Fe’s High Desert, you may find that it is actually drying to your skin.   In Chinese medicine, oils, just like herbs, have different properties and different medicinal actions on the body.  Coconuts are indigenous to tropical, balmy climates where there is a great deal of humidity.  In the High Desert of New Mexico we need oils that are more hydrating and rejuvenating, such as almond oil, which will actually put oils back into your skin.  If you are using coconut oil and find that it isn’t replenishing moisture, try almond oil instead.
